Home Set-Up Volunteers
What's the difference between a house and home? YOU! Work alongside JVS staff to furnish homes for our newest neighbors. Meet at our warehouse to load up furniture and household items and then head over to the house to transform it into a home. As soon as a refugee family arrives in Kansas City, they are given keys to their new, fully-furnished home where a stocked pantry and warm meal await them. This opportunity is perfect for individual volunteers or groups. A fully completed application, including a cleared background screening are required in advance.

Youth Mentoring Program
Through the Youth Mentor Program, JVS matches refugee youth ages 15-24 with mentors who support them in their academic and vocational goals and help them to thrive. Fill out the volunteer application and the Youth Mentor Program Questionnaire if interested.
Commitment: 6 month to 1 year commitment with weekly check ins for the school year, as well as monthly group meetings.
Clothing Closet & Warehouse Organization
Help JVS provide much-needed items to our clients by sorting clothing donations in our clothing closet or household items at our warehouse.
Commitment: Service opportunities may be one time or recurrent, and are available at the JVS main office or warehouse.
Happy Bottoms & Giving the Basics
JVS makes diapers and personal hygiene products available monthly at no cost to alleviate barriers to accessing these products and ensure financial stability for the families we serve.
Commitment: Serve for a two-hour shift on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays between 8:30 AM and 4 PM; May be one time or recurrent.
