Section 1: Summary – Overview and Purpose of Position
Supports JVS’s comprehensive volunteer program, including training volunteers, tracking volunteer information and activities, managing volunteer efforts, keeping volunteers informed and conveying the organization’s purpose to the public
Section 2: Qualifications – Education and Experience
Combination or education and experience normally represented by an Associate’s Degree in social work, human service field and/or volunteer management required. Previous experience working with refugees is strongly desired.
Position requires use of personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement. Valid driver’s license, insurance, and clean driving record is required. Use of cell phone is also required with partial reimbursement by agency.
Section 3: Responsibilities/Duties
Support Volunteer Recruitment: Assist in the recruitment process by posting volunteer opportunities on various platforms, responding to inquiries, and coordinating interviews.
Volunteer Onboarding and Training: Facilitate the onboarding process for new volunteers, providing them with necessary materials, introducing them to the organization's values and mission, and guiding them through any required training.
Event Assistance: Participate in the planning and execution of events and activities, providing support in logistics, registration, and assisting attendees or participants during the events.
Data Management: Prepare and maintain accurate and consistent records and reports of volunteer information, hours contributed, and other relevant data using appropriate software or tools.
Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the Volunteer Manager and Volunteer Outreach Coordinator such as filing, photocopying, data entry, and responding to emails or phone calls.
Community Outreach: Collaborate with the Volunteer Outreach Coordinator to promote volunteer opportunities and engage with the community to attract new volunteers. Participate in community events as needed.
Section 4: Skills Needed
- Ability to work effectively in an environment that is multi-cultural and multi-lingual
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends when necessary)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Volgistics and internet-based communication.
- Must have a valid Missouri or Kansas Driver’s License and a verified safe driving record and reliable means of transportation for local travel. Must provide a copy of license
Section 5: Relationships
The ability to develop positive working relationships with internal staff, refugee clients and community leaders, and community partners is absolutely paramount.
Section 6: Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Position requires some flexibility in schedule, with some weekends and/or evenings required. This position will primarily be in support of the Volunteer team; approximately 75% of the job will be completed in office. Occasional travel to community events, public service providers, and other service locations will be necessary. Use of personal vehicle is necessary with mileage reimbursement.
Salary range: $38,900 – 47,500
