Message from our Executive Director

Dear friends,

In these unprecedented times, JVS remains steadfast in our commitment to our values, mission and vision because we believe all people have intrinsic worth and dignity and all people can flourish with support.

Our clients are especially vulnerable to the economic, physical health and mental health repercussions caused by the pandemic.  They disproportionately work in industries, like food service and hospitality, that are most hard hit with job loss.  For those who have maintained employment as essential workers, they are putting themselves and their families at risk of exposure to COVID 19, sometimes for pay below a living wage. For 70 years, our work has been to serve the most vulnerable and we continue that work today, when it is needed more than ever.

We continue to provide many services to clients via telephone and video conference. We are committed to providing essential services in person, with the safety of our clients and staff remaining paramount. JVS is providing critical support to clients, helping inform them of their rights and navigate new services and offering direct emergency assistance for things like food and diapers. If you can lend an extra hand now, it will provide life saving support.

We recognize that this is an unprecedented time in our nation and stand ready for change that will improve the lives of those we serve.  If you have questions, please contact us at 816.471.2808. You may also reach me directly at hsinger@jvskc.org
