Overview and Purpose of Position
The Housing and Donations Coordinator is responsible for securing safe, adequate, and affordable housing for
new refugee clients. This includes working with landlords to establish collaborative relationships allowing JVS to
provide appropriate housing, prepared for clients before arrival. Housing Coordinator will identify housing for
refugee families, taking into consideration proximity of schools, bus lines, grocery, libraries, and other services as
well as safety of the neighborhood and cost of housing. Housing Coordinator is responsible for tracking all
expenses related to materials required by the Cooperative Agreement to be placed in homes as well as initial rent
and deposits.
Education and Experience
● Bachelors degree, preferred
● Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with immigrant populations and/or low-income populations required.
● Experience with low-income housing strongly desired.

 Responsibilities/Duties
● Establish, maintain, and expand database of landlords.
● Secure housing for arriving cases. [Except in cases of late arrival notices, housing should be identifiedtwo weeks prior to arrival.

Position Description
● Connect the utilities in the client’s name prior to arrival. If that is not possible, work with landlords to connect utilities (temporarily) in landlord’s name.
● Complete Housing Safety Checklist and case notes prior to arrival of clients.
● Deliver and set-up furniture and other housing items into residences prior to arrival of clients.
● Complete the Household Items forms showing exact prices of items delivered to each residence.
● Submit keys and lease to case manager.
● Request initial rent and deposit checks from accounting.
● Follow-up with Landlords with any maintenance issues for initial 90 days post-arrival.
● Maintain supplies for household items.
● Plan and execute quarterly landlord informational meetings to keep landlords abreast of incoming populations and troubleshoot problems.
● Respond to, schedule and complete donation pick up requests
● Maintain organization of JVS warehouse
● Ensure all required items are ready for housing set ups, either through donations or purchased
● Train and supervise volunteers to assist with duties and projects.
● Other duties as assigned.

● Ability to create reports with statistical data relating to landlord retention and expansion, rent amounts, proximity to public services, in-coming donation values, and values of out-going donations.
● Strong computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and internet-based communication.
● Demonstrated ability to create, maintain, execute, and follow procedures that are fair and supportive toclientele.
● Access to reliable transportation
● Ability to drive cargo van or box truck

Relationships
The ability to develop positive working relationships with internal staff, refugee and immigrant clients, landlords, community leaders, and community partners is absolutely paramount.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Position requires some flexibility in schedule, with some weekends and/or evenings. Approximately 50% of the job will be completed in the warehouse, which has neither heating nor cooling. Position requires travel outdoors in personal vehicle to potential homes, thus, tolerance to extremes of heat and cold weather may occur. Position requires frequent bending, squatting, sitting, standing, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items that may weighup to 40 lbs. 20-30% of work is conducted at a computer desk.
