Section 1: Summary – Overview and Purpose of Position

The JVS Refugee Career Pathways program promotes economic self-sufficiency for refugees and immigrants

with barriers to achieving their career goals by connecting them with training and resources and job search

support. The Manager will work directly with clients and supervise staff in order to provide the following


● Assistance in creating personalized career development plans

● Access to classroom and work-based learning opportunities

● Career coaching and mentoring

● Connections with educational opportunities, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training

● Re-credentialing and credential recognition

● Vocational English language training

● Job search, application, and retention support

Section 2: Qualifications – Education and Experience

● BA in social work or human service field, or equivalent required.. Experience in the field may be

substituted for degree.

● Experience in providing case management and employment services. Minimum 2-3 years working with

immigrant populations and/or low-income populations required. Previous experience working with

refugees is strongly desired.

● Supervisory experience preferred.

Section 3: Responsibilities/Duties

Client Focused

● Communicate and coordinate with staff to ensure timely and high quality provision of service, including

participating in service delivery as appropriate

● Market the program to the community and referral sources.

● Work collaboratively with other program managers to coordinate holistic services for clients

● Ensure clients are aware of program activities and requirements and understand their rights and


● Provide service with awareness of differences based on the diversity of populations served and tailor

services to meet client needs; serve as a resource for both clients and staff in resolving conflict

● Evaluate programs for effectiveness and bring ideas to the table for improvement.

External Relations

● Participates in meetings convened by funders or service collaboratives

● Manage relationships with partner agencies and referral partners and update staff on new/changing

procedures, resources; advocate for client access to service

● Become familiar with job market trends and community employment opportunities, sharing information

with persons served and other staff members as needed.

● Market individual program participants and JVS programs to employers throughout the community

using JVS materials and on-site personal interviews with employers. Educate and train prospective

employers about the various populations served by JVS

● Assist employers in identifying, modify and eliminating barriers to the employment and advancement of

persons served.


● Remain current on program requirements and provide ongoing training to staff

● Provide regular supervision and support to program staff


● Ensure appropriate documentation of services and conduct regular file reviews

● Maintain relationship with funding source and holds primary responsibility for reporting program

outcomes and financial activity to funders

● Participates in grants process to renew/secure new funding

● Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal skills.

● Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

● Strong computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and internet-based communication.

● Must have a valid Missouri or Kansas Driver’s License and a verified safe driving record and reliable

means of transportation for local travel. Must provide a copy of license

Section 5: Relationships

The ability to develop positive working relationships with internal staff, refugee clients and community leaders,

and community partners is absolutely paramount.

Section 6: Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Position requires some flexibility in schedule, with some weekends and/or evenings required. This position will

primarily be a coordinator of services; approximately 75% of the job will be completed in office. Occasional

travel to client homes, community events, public service providers, and other service locations will be necessary.

Use of personal vehicle is necessary with mileage reimbursement.

Salary Range: $48,532 – 55,000
